It seems that Hedi Slimane just couldn’t resist a foray back into menswear.  The SS’13 lookbook for a new men’s collection, Saint Laurent Skinny, recently emerged on the revamped YSL website.  The collection features casual basics and wardrobe staples such as the jet black skinny jean, the washed out denim jacket, and the generously cut silky tee: all tropes of Hedi’s collections at Dior Homme.  Skinny also pays homage to hallmarks of Saint Laurent: the tailored pleat front button-down in stark white, the topcoat, and even the polo shirt adorned with the traditional YSL insignia.  Added for fair measure are button-downs in rockabilly-esque leopard print and high top trainers, along with studded leather belts and iPad cases.  The tailoring is impeccable: super slim -and photographed on androgynous model Gryphon O’Shea one can’t help but wonder if Saint Laurent Skinny might garner a strong following with fashion’s female set too.  Whether it be his tourniquet tight skinny jeans or the waiting lists that are likely to ensue from this new collection, the slogan “Cause Me Pain Hedi Slimane” seems once again apropos.
